Self-service infrastructure only works if the self-service path is the
easiest path. This module library made the compliant, production-hardened
way to provision AWS infrastructure also the fastest one.

## Challenge

Seventy application repositories, each capable of provisioning its own
infrastructure. Without a shared library, every team reinvents VPC
wiring, database parameter tuning, and IAM boundaries — and every
reinvention is a future incident and an audit finding.

## Approach

- **Curated modules with hard defaults.** Encryption, retention, and
  monitoring on by default; overriding a safety default requires an
  explicit, reviewable argument.
- **Versioned like software.** Semver releases, pinned versions in
  callers, upgrade guides per minor — modules are an API, not a snippet.
- **Docs as the adoption surface.** Complete examples for every module;
  a module without a working example does not ship.

## Result

8,000+ module usages across 70 repositories. New services inherit
production-grade infrastructure configuration from their first commit,
and platform review shifts from reading HCL to reviewing intent.
